Community at the heart.

Hope Gardens is a community-led organisation rooted in North Kensington, bringing people together through growing, remembrance, environmental activity and shared community space.

WHO WE ARE TODAY

A local organisation shaped by the people it serves.

Hope Gardens grew from a resident-led gardening project into a community organisation creating opportunities for people to connect, learn, volunteer, care for shared space and help shape what comes next.

Its work remains grounded in the people and communities around North Kensington - responding to local needs while creating greener, more welcoming and connected places.

How Hope Gardens Began

The beginning

The idea for Hope Gardens grew from local residents coming together around the need for a welcoming green space where people could connect, reflect and support one another.

1

Created for local people.

From the beginning, the project was shaped around community participation — creating a place where local people could contribute, spend time together and help care for a shared space.

2

Finding a place to gather.

Hope Gardens found a home at Maxilla Walk, transforming an overlooked urban space beneath the Westway into somewhere the community could meet, grow and take part.

3

Hope Gardens takes root

Through gardening, volunteering and community activity, the space developed into an established local garden and a place for remembrance, connection and participation.

4

Hope Gardens today

Today, Hope Gardens brings people together through regular community activity, partnerships, volunteering and environmental work, while developing a longer-term vision for the site.

5

Built by the community

Hope Gardens continues because people contribute their time, knowledge, energy and support. Its development has always depended on participation rather than simply providing services to a community.

6

The people behind the garden.

Hope Gardens exists because residents and volunteers continue to give their time, knowledge, skills and care to the garden and its community.
