Hope Gardens has grown from a community-led garden and place of remembrance into a wider vision for the future. The proposed Ecology Centre would create a permanent space where local people can learn, connect, improve their wellbeing and take part in environmental and community activity.
From a community garden to a permanent centre for learning, well-being and environmental renewal.
A vision rooted in recovery and shaped by local need.
Hope Gardens was created in response to the needs of the local community following the Grenfell tragedy. As the garden developed, conversations with residents highlighted a wider need for places to learn, work, connect and spend time together. The Ecology Centre vision grew from that experience.

DESIGNED AROUND COMMUNITY
The vision belongs to all of North Kensington.
The Ecology Centre vision has been supported through successive stages of community consultation.
An early consultation led by the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea attracted more than 2,000 votes through the Grenfell Projects Fund in support of an ecology/community centre at Hope Gardens.
Further resident consultations and petitions over subsequent years generated another 1,000 signatures, reinforcing local support for the continued development of Hope Gardens and its longer-term vision.
Together, this community involvement has helped shape priorities around environmental learning, wellbeing, community connection, skills and local opportunity.

The Ecology Centre remains a long-term development vision for Hope Gardens. Its design and development have progressed through successive stages of consultation, architectural work and pre-planning activity.
The current pre-planning material provides a further stage in that development, while the wider vision continues to be shaped around the needs of the community and the future of the site.
